ReDuX: RMx VOLUME 1… nonstop contemporary jazz for the urban soul
This year’s Cosmopolitan cocktail for the lounge crowd is ReDuX: RMX Volume 1 . This debut disc by ReDuX is a potent blend of cool jazz in the Miles Davis and Chick Corea tradition, with a Latin twist of Antonio Carlos Jobim, that is “shaken not stirred” with a concoction of trippy electronica loops, heavy bass and urban beats. These acid jazz tracks will definitely go to your head and are perfect for creating lounge, chill, and café-hip atmospheres.
Infectious rhythms drive the jazz-electronic tracks on ReDuX: RMx Volume 1. No samples here - the loops and beats are played live by a collective of young Toronto jazz players. The catchy Latin, funk and cool jazz compositions are infused with urban rhythms, electronic elements and sound bytes in different languages – even Swahili – that interweave each of the original 13 tracks, creating a nonstop, cosmopolitan café atmosphere.
The core of ReDuX is former L.A. based, Toronto media composer Archangel Menezes and American-Canadian guitarist Eddie Paton, who played on Robert Michaels' Juno award-winning Warner album, ALLEGRO, and is currently touring with international artist and Billboard world music award-winner, Johannes Linstead.
ReDuX: RMx Volume 1, produced by L.A. based, Juno-nominated Urban Producer Kenny Moran, features Nelly Furtado's keys man, Joel Joseph, jacksoul's Davide Direnzo on drums, session bassist Roger Williams and various jazz and R&B players from the Toronto music scene.
